Greg Griffin set to be the highest Australian authority in FIFA law

19.10.2019

Greg is one of four people worldwide that have won a scholarship for the inaugural FIFA Diploma in Football Law

“Currently the clubs rely upon easy access to the FFA (Football Federation Australia’s) legal team of six lawyers experienced in dealing with FIFA and AFC (Asian Football Confederation),” Griffin said.

“Basically I am just a resource for clubs which need its counsel to be familiar with FIFA rules as the need arises.

“I was encouraged to apply for admission to the FIFA course by Simon Pearce (vice chair) from Melbourne City and Chris Fong (vice chair) from Brisbane Roar, both of whom have wide experience in other international football jurisdictions and saw the need for us to have this knowledge in house.”

“We need qualified people to advise Australian football clubs as to the applicable FIFA rules and regulations.’’

The FIFA Diploma in Football Law will take place in five locations around the globe, starting in Miami in February 2020 and continuing through into 2021.
