The Barça Academy Camps Australia 2022/23 become a reality

Barça Academy in conjunction with its new partner Akaw Sports, will be landing in Australia this upcoming winter, being present in all five continents.

Adelaide (Ellis Park, 9/01-13/01/2023), Melbourne (La Trobe University, 16/01-20/01/2023) and Sydney (Arc Sports UNSW, 23/01-27/01/2023) will be the three cities in which Australian boys and girls from 6 to 17 years old will have the chance to develop as football players under the methodology and values of one of the world’s most prestigious sports entities with the greatest impact worldwide.

Barça Academy in conjunction with its new partner Akaw Sports, will be landing in Australia this upcoming winter, being present in all five continents.

Barça Academy will bring its unique football methodology and values to Australia, to inspire boys and girls to improve their football skills while having fun. Coaches from Barcelona will travel to Australia to conduct the training camps and deliver the best possible practices to the participants.

Carlos Martín, Barça Academy Global Director, reflects on the new project: “We will start with a set of three camps, in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in January 2023, but there will be more during 2023, so stay tuned! We are also looking forward to having Australian teams present in our international Barça Academy World Cup hosted in Barcelona in April 2023 and the APAC Cup to be hosted in Japan in September 2023. This shows that we are here to stay and we want Australia to be part of our international network of activities.”

Martín adds that “we are very happy to be working with Akaw Sports in this project, their expertise and capacity in the Australian market are a key element for us.”

Miki Alcón and Oriol Lluis, Akaw Sports owners, also attended the presentation at the Camp Nou in Barcelona.

Miki Alcón points out that “when I lived in Australia, I witnessed the great passion that Barça arouses in the country. With this project I am fulfilling my dream of seeing the team of my life in my second home.

Oriol Lluís remarked that “Australia is passionate about sport, and football is growing and growing over time, so we are delighted to be there.”

Sandra Griffin, also of Akaw Sports, commented that “It’s a great privilege for the Griffin Family to be involved in bringing the Barça Academy to Australia and working with Miki and Oriol. Our relationship commenced some years ago, so to now be involved in the Barça Academy is amazing for us.”

This new agreement aims to be the start of a long-term relationship in which lots of activities will be developed in this region. This year’s edition will be added to the hundreds that are held annually around the world, where 35 different countries are witnesses to the style of play and values that make the ‘Barça model’ unique and inimitable.
